PLEASE NOTE:
No dogs other than those full or mixed breed dachshunds participating in the RACE (and who have completed the registration form with proof of up-to-date vaccinations - Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus)
or COSTUME CONTEST (must remain leashed) will be allowed on the field at the event at any time.  Full/mixed-breed dachshunds (must remain leashed) ONLY at the event.

Sorry, no exceptions {except service dogs with identification}! We want to keep our furry friends healthy and safe!

General RACE Rules

1.   Exact number of races and time intervals are dependent upon registrations received.  All races will take place within the event time frame of 12 noon - 4 PM on September 29th, 2024. 

2.   Must be a full or mixed breed Doxie to enter the race - maximum 32 lbs.

3.   Each Dog in race events must be accompanied by 2 humans (included in your registration fee):  ONE human at the starting line and ONE human to catch the dog behind the finish line.

4.   Owners may use dog's favorite toy, ball, treat or other motivational tools as needed to motivate their dog to cross the finish line (humans and motivational tools must remain behind the finish line).

5.   Throwing balls/toys, laser lights or shining lights down the track is NOT allowed.

6.   All Judges’ rulings are final!

 

Doxie RACE Classifications
Please choose your race classification at registration.  All classifications are subject to review and verification.  Classifications have been set & approved by Cobb Animal Clinic, Greensboro, NC. 

"Adult Races" -- Adult Doxies are:  1-6 years old (have not reached their 7th birthday)

"Puppy Races" -- Doxie Puppies are:  up to 11 months old (have not reached their 1st birthday)

"Senior Races" -- Senior Doxies are:  7 years old+

"Mixed Breed Races" -- Doxies who are less than 100% Dachshund: Max weight = 32 pounds

A quick reminder about registration:  Registration is ongoing and dynamic. As we receive entries, each dog is placed into their proper division based on age & ability.  With each registration submission, heat and gate assignments could change. It is for this reason, we finalize registration as divisions reach their limits or 72 hours prior to Race Day. NOTE:  it is possible that RACER LIMITS may be reached PRIOR to the published registration closing time.  REGISTER EARLY!

Please be patient in allowing us to complete this process leading up to 24 hours before the race. Thank you in advance for your cooperation, patience & understanding. 

 

COSTUME Contest RULES/Guidelines/Policies

CATEGORIES - Judged by our professional emcees (except 'Survivor Favorite') ----> all decisions are FINAL.

1. Most original/handmade/creative

2. Best duo or group

3. Funniest 

4. Survivor Favorite 

---> Upon check in at the event, each participant will be given a card to fill in and present to the Judges with:  Dog Name, Costume Name, and a short, fun tidbit about the dog. 

We will be able to accept entries up to 15 minutes PRIOR to the beginning of the Costume Contest (this time will be published 48 hours ahead of the start of the event, once the race heats have been set). 

WALK UP COSTUME CONTEST REGISTRATION IS $15.
